This piece is inspired from a hike with a close friend in Chambers Gully, SA. For years, there were things we had each been holding back from one another, unsure how to share them. On that walk we finally did. Instead of breaking, our friendship grew stronger. We realised we’d both changed, and that we could hold these things together now.
The painting carries that shift. The left-hand side is busier and more chaotic, like the feeling of holding too much inside. The right-hand side opens up, with more light and space, reflecting the release and ease that came when we finally spoke openly.
For me, We Can Hold This Now is about growth, honesty, and the space that opens up when we stop carrying everything alone.
